Half way to ONE

Today is Nate's 6 month birthday. I can't believe he is so old already. I was walking to my car last week after a day in the office and it was strange to think that I was already pregnant for 9 months.....survived labor and the first few months of his life.....and now I have a 6 month old. I can't believe it! Time sure flies.

I will post more pictures and all about what he's up to in the next few days!

A Test

Wes works in the insurance business.....workers comp insurance to be exact. He has always managed the agents who sell for them but they are re-structuring the company & so they wanted him to get his insurance license to be able to do more.

Getting your license involves taking a test. Unfortunately, workers comp was only 2-3 questions on the test and the rest were about car insurance, property & casualty, home/dwelling policies, etc. Stuff he wasn't familiar with. So, he had a lot of studying to do.

He took the test today and PASSED! Yeah! Congrats babe. We're both glad that's overwith. NO more studying!

Ben & Jerry's

Wes & I looovveee icecream. It is by far our favorite food. After we put Nate down for bed, we come downstairs & Wes has a bowl of icecream and I have an icecream cone. This happens every night. That's what I love about weight watchers. I can still eat my icecream.

Tonight, our icecream treat was at Ben & Jerry's. My sister Ali invited us to meet them at Ben & Jerry's tonight to try their new flavors. Sam joined us, too. I ended up getting "Bananas on the Rum"....a yummy banana icecream with rum flavoring and brown sugar swirled in it. Delicious! I also loved a coconut bar flavor....so good!

I have to share my excitement...

I looovvee my babysitter. She's so great with Nate & I love that I don't worry about him at all while I'm gone on Monday afternoon.

That's not what I'm excited about.

I was talking to my babysitter this afternoon about her other job. She works at 24 Hour Fitness and it dawned on me that she just might work in the "daycare" at the gym because she loves kids. SHE DOES! She is one of the babysitters at MY gym! The gym I've been paying for for 2.5 years now and can count on my hands the number of times I've been. I've really wanted to start going during the day but I've been paranoid about leaving him there. She's going to email me her schedule every week so I know when she'll be there! YEAH! I'm OK with leaving an older child there but it was a little hard for me to leave my 6 month old with strangers. Problem solved! Now, I really don't have any excuse if I can't make it there a few times a week.

Daisy's Blessing

Let me start off by saying that I love baby blessings. I love being around these tiny creatures who are so pure and innocent. It's amazing to think that just a short time ago they were with our Heavenly Father.

My cute little niece, Daisy, was blessed today. Tripp's brother, Patrick, also blessed their 2 week old little boy, Garrett. It was a nice afternoon with family & friends. I was really good friends with Tripp's youngest brother, Paul, in highschool so I've known Tripp's family for quite a while. Sam & I used to hang out at Tripp's house when we were in junior high and highschool....so it's always fun to see the Thompson clan. We enjoy it when they are all in town!

We are glad we could be a part of Daisy's special day!

A Preview of my Reward

I had to come up with a reward for myself when I lose my "Nate Weight" plus a few more pounds. What I came up with was: a day of shopping and lunch with my sister, Sam. It's been over a year since I've been able to wear the clothes in my closet & seeing as how I just gave away two garbage bags full....I think I need to replace a few items. I haven't been shopping in a long time (maternity clothes shopping and "my normal clothes are too small so I need a bigger size" doesn't count. That's no fun!) so I'm kinda excited about it. Ten more pounds and I can schedule my shopping day with Sam!

We had a little preview today of what our "real shopping day" will be like. Wes & Nate joined us for lunch at California Pizza Kitchen at my new favorite place, Town Square. Wes took Nate home for his nap while Sam and I spent a few short hours browsing a few of our favorite stores. It made me really excited for the day when we get to shop all day long. It's one of our favorite things to do!

A little more about my new favorite place ~ Town Square. It's more than an outdoor mall. We've got a great movie theater, 11 restaurants, great shopping, a fabulous park for kids, & entertainment. I love it! Nate is totally content being pushed around in his stroller because there is so much going on for him to look at. It's very family friendly ~ something Vegas isn't necessarily known for. Plus, it's a great way to take advantage of our wonderful LV weather when you can be outside! It's only 10 minutes from my house and approximately 3 minutes from the office. :)

I love places where I can take Nate during the day and just walk around outside. I have a feeling I'll be a regular here. There's a big grassy area to sit down at and the park for kids is great, too.

My day at the office

Even though working and being a mom can be very overwhelming at times ~ a day like today makes all the craziness worth it. I had a great day at the office! I was able to go a casual meeting with a client & then spent the rest of the time at the office with my dad. There aren't many people in our office but every once in a while when everyone gets together it's pretty fun. My dad has two great friends who work in our building and they were around all day today. The three of them together just crack me up. Dana, my co-worker, & I were laughing all afternoon at these three old guys cracking jokes at each other. I even convinced everyone to go to California Pizza Kitchen for lunch. YUM. Much better than the lunches I make myself at home.

I've always loved working in the advertising & marketing field. When I was 10 years old, I started working at my dad's advertising agency making copies and filing, loving every minute of it. I've worked in the advertising field ever since. I was thrilled to get pregnant with Nate since I've always wanted to be a mom but part of me was sad to have to leave the business world. I like what I do so I was thrilled when my dad offered to let me work from home. I love being a mom but still having my foot in the door of the business world. It gives me some sanity. My one full day a week in the office is a much appreciated break from being at home all day. If I have any extra time in the day, I can even go to the grocery store without a baby. Plus, I love that Nate gets to spend one day a week with his grandma that loves him to pieces.

I'm grateful that I am able to do what I do. Be a mom & work at the same time!
