{15.5} weeks along

I like recording pregnany details {I was much better with my Nate pregnancy - I'm trying to be better} so here we go . . .

At almost 16 weeks . . .
  • I'm feeling great.

  • A little tired sometimes but my energy levels are almost back to normal.

  • I heard the heartbeat again today. Always a reassuring thing.

  • I felt the baby move today for the first time. It actually woke me up this morning. He/she was moving like crazy! I didn't feel Nate until he was almost 21 weeks so it was a nice surprise. It probably helps that I know what it feels like this go-around.

  • My sense of smell is crazy. It makes me gag multiple times a day! The other day I was on a walk in the morning and someone in the neighborhood next to ours was cooking something that smelled absolutely foul. I started gagging and it wasn't long until I was barfing in the bushes. After 4-5 barfs, I plugged my nose and ran home.

  • I'm getting a lot bigger a lot faster with this pregnancy. Your body definitely remembers how to stretch and it's doing it a lot sooner this go around.

  • Nate talks about the baby every day. He kisses my tummy or anytime I eat something he says "baby eat."

We find out what we are having on September 24th! Fingers are crossed that this one cooperates a little better than Nate. It took 3 ultrasounds to find out with Nate because his legs were always completely crossed.

Salt Lake City

We spent a few days in Salt Lake last week. It was jam packed with FUN. I really do love that city in the summer!

On Thursday, Sam and I spent the day with my mom's family. My grandma has been dying to see Nate so I went up a little early so she could see him. {I did manage to escape for an hour to visit my friends & old co-workers at R&R Partners . . . it was fun to catch up with them!} He was quite naughty that day so my mom's family got to experience a little bit of the terrible two's. My Uncle James and cousin Guthrie were so cute to sit on the floor with Nate for a long while playing trains.

Our main reason for going to Salt Lake was to be at the sealing of my Aunt Kara and Uncle Allan in the Salt Lake Temple on Friday. It was a beautiful sealing and we were so glad we were able to go. Their son Devin was sealed to them that day, also. It was a happy day. {Thanks Shannon & Scott for taking Nate for us! When I knocked on the door to pick Nate up . . . Nate opened the door, saw me and said "NO! More play!" and shut the door in my face.}

After the sealing, my Aunt Leslie had the entire family {which is ALOT of people} over to her house to have a BBQ. Her backyard is beautiful so while it was a little toasty that day . . . the surroundings and company were great.

My family {minus the Thompson kiddos who stayed in LV}

a few people at the BBQ . . .

Nate with Papa John

We figured we'd stay the weekend to hang out with family!

We stayed with my Aunt Tina & Uncle Gary on Thursday and Friday night. They have a beautiful home and are always so nice to open it up to us! Nate LOVED their house. My aunt Tina watches her two {2} year old grandsons every day so she has lots of toys and fun things for little boys. Plus, they have a doggie. He was in heaven.

On Saturday Nate got to spend some time with his 2-year-old-second-cousin Zeke.

We went to the Farmers Market on Saturday morning with Tina/Gary/Zeke. Wes and I got some delicious sweet corn, fresh peaches & honey. {we made Raspberry Peach jam last night with some of our peaches!} After the Market, we headed to Thanksgiving Point with Tina and Zeke to go to the farm where they are able to see and pet lots of animals. They had fun!

Nate LOVED riding the ponies!

On Saturday late afternoon, we said goodbye to Tina and Gary and headed over to my cousin, Shannon & Scott's home. We spent ALOT of time with them when we lived in Utah and we really haven't seen them for more than a few minutes since we moved four years ago so we figured it was time. The kids played for a while . . . we put them to bed . . . and then Shannon's sister came over to sit there while we went out to dinner. We came home and started chatting downstairs until Shannon said, "it's 1:30am, we should probably go to bed." I was shocked . . . I'm never up that late! At 2:15am, we finally went to bed. We obviously had a lot of catching up to do. Needless to say we were all a little tired the next day.

Nate with Zack & Ella

On Sunday, we stopped by to see our dear friends, The Andrus'. Ryan & Leslie just had another baby {Tyler} a few weeks ago so we got to meet him. What a beautiful newborn! It was fun to briefly catch up with them. We miss you guys.

Nate was there just long enough to torment Millie. :)

i heart summer saturdays

Summer saturdays in the Griffeth household are my favorite. We take a break from home projects and enjoy our Saturdays all summer long! We've been in my parent's backyard swimming every Saturday we've been in town since June.

This last Saturday was especially fun. We got there earlier than usual so I could go maternity clothes shopping with Sam & my mom (I hit the jackpot at The Gap! I ended up getting 55% off the sale price. I scored. Big time.) While I was gone Wes and my dad took Nate swimming. Soon after the Thompson clan showed up for a little lunch BBQ and swimming. We always put Nate down for a nap at my parent's house so we have a few hours to lay on a raft in peace! It's the best. Wes took Nate swimming again when he woke up . . . I don't think I've heard Nate laugh that much in a long time! He thought "surfing" on the raft with his dad was sooo fun.

While I'm ready to say adios to the summer heat . . . I will sure miss summer Saturdays in the pool.

{SIX} years

Yesterday, Wes and I had our 6 year anniversary. Six years! For some reason it hit me this year that that's kind of a long time. I mean, not really in the scheme of things but it just seems like a long time right now. It's been a great six years and I can't imagine life any other way than it is now.

Wes is truly my best friend and I'm glad that he's mine!

We were able to go out on a date tonight - dinner and a movie! It's been months and months and months since that has happened so it was a nice treat. Thanks Kiley and Brandon for taking care of Nate for us!

Love you, babe.

a family of three {and a 1/3}

Yep, we're having a baby!

The ultrasound above was done at 10 weeks. I never got a 4D ultrasound with Nate but I got one this time. Talk about amazing! This little guy is the size of a bean so to be able to see the detail like you can see above was awesome.
A few things about this pregnancy . . .
- I am 13 weeks along. 1/3 of the pregnancy is already over!
- I am due on February 15th. Fingers are crossed we don't have a Valentines baby for his/her sake.
- We've only known about this little runt for a few weeks! Long story.
- I am already looking fat. I can't wait until I look pregnant instead of looking like I ate too many twinkies. Shouldn't be long at this rate.
- Have I been sick? Not really. I went through a phase where I got nauseous if I didn't eat all day long. So, I ate all day long and was fine! And now, I'm feeling normal.
- I was absolutely exhausted for about a month. I'm still tired but nothing like before!
- My ultra-pregnancy-smeller-nose has kicked in. Oh, man.
- Out-of-the-ordinary cravings? Bagels and cottage cheese.
- While Nate has no idea what this new baby will mean to his life - he sure loves saying "baby mommy tummy". He even gives my tummy a raspberry and says "hi baby."

I really do enjoy being pregnant so I'm excited for the next 6 months!

nate's {2nd} birthday

It's amazing how much they change in ONE year. Nate turned 2 yesterday!

Nate had a fun birthday. He was so incredibly happy all morning - it was such a treat! We played and played and had a great time. He took a nap at my parent's house so I could start getting ready for the party. My mom was a huge help - I would have been stressed without her!

We had a pool party to celebrate Nate's big day. We kept it small this year . . . Nate's little buddies came . . . {their parents happen to be our buddies, too} so that was fun! He loved having some of his favorite people there. We talked about his party all day so he was excited when they all showed up.

We ate yummy food.

{the BIG kids at the table}

{These TWO girlies can join them next year at the BIG kid table}

Played in the tunnels and on the slide.

Did a little swimming . . .

Opened presents and had some cake & icecream.

Thanks to all who came to celebrate with us. Nate had a great birthday! Happy Birthday, bud. We love you! Thanks for all the birthday phone calls & packages. We appreciate it. Oh, and a big thanks to grandma and papa marz for letting us have another party at their house!

the beginning of Nate's birthday {week}

My little man turns {2} on Thursday. Crazy, I know.

He's had a fun birthday week so far. Yesterday he got to spend almost the whole day with his little buddy, Hadley. It started out at the Children's Museum. Our museum is by far the most ghetto of any children's museum I've ever been to but Nate doesn't seem to mind. He still has fun! {and, if you buy the year pass, it ends up being $5 a month for unlimited visits. Not a bad price for some entertainment!}

Anyway, back to our museum visit.

Nate's favorite part is the Grossology exhibit they have going on right now. It's all about burps, farts & snot. He thinks it's hilarious. Hadley seemed to like it, too.

He always loves the cash register in the grocery store . . .

Nate and Hadley flew an airplane . . .

This trip, Nate loved hauling little suitcases around and sending them through security . . .

After naps, Kiley cut Nate's very long hair and then the kiddos played in Hadley's little pool in their backyard. Nate had a blast. And all day today he's been saying "Ki cut Nate hair."

I made cupcakes over the weekend. Nate got a little more practice eating cake!

Today he spent the day with grandma marz while I spent the day with papa marz at the office. He always has a great day with grandma.

So far, he's had a great birthday week!
