I finally got some courage and we started potty training Ryan. For a while now he’s enjoyed using the toilet and even told the babysitter once that he had to go potty. We took him to Target and let him pick out his own underwear [Cars 2 & Toy Story] and the next day that’s what he wore.
He’s been a funny one. I forgot how much fun potty training is. It was way easier with Nate in a sense because we had more of the ability to just stay home day-after-day and work through it. But now we’re taking Nate around & we’ve got stuff to do! So it’s been harder to completely avoid the pull-ups like we were able to do with Nate.
Overall, he’s doing pretty well. He makes us laugh because one minute he doesn’t even tell us he has to pee – he just goes to the bathroom and uses the potty. And then 10 minutes later he poops and pees in his underwear. He’ll get there. I’m much more laid back this go around which is helpful at least for me!
We’ve had some pretty good conversations with Ryan in the last week or so. On day 1 of potty training, I filled up this little jar with mini m&m’s and he knew those were his “potty treats”. After he peed on the potty and I went to give him 4-5 M&M’s – he asks “whole jar?” He totally wasn’t kidding – he still asks for the entire jar for one trip to the potty.
I’m proud of this little guy – he’s definitely trying!

I agree it is definitely harder once you have to start running around. We just kept a couple changes of clothes in the car just in case. The first couple of days we used every change of clothes we had, but everyday it got better!
WAHOOOOO!! Way to go Ryan!! Way to be laid back about it too. I always struggle with that. Such a big big boy!
