Nate’s losing teeth.

missing teeth (1 of 1)

He was waiting & waiting & waiting and finally lost a tooth!  Two teeth, actually.  He lost his first tooth during a holiday party in his Kindergarten classroom & it was our lucky day because I was there volunteering and got to witness the excitement!  The second one came out when he allowed his father to yank it out.

The tooth fairy {who I call Mr. Tooth Fairy on this one} was so busy on the night he lost his 2nd tooth that she ran out of time to come.  Left a note about running in to the Sandman at night.  Nate thought that was pretty cool so he was excited to get a bonus $1 when she actually did show up.  Glad he lost his bottom teeth first – I’m not ready for those two front teeth to come out!

Nate has this silly laugh that he does and this is the goofy face he makes.

Oh, my.  My little lady is 6 months old!  We love this girl – what a great addition to our crazy family.  A little bit about J at 6 months old:

- She is happy!

- She loves her food.  I’m making her baby food & so far she loves her veggies and pears mixed with some cereal.

- She thinks her brothers are pretty great.  She does her best belly laugh for them when they are being silly.

- Loves the bath.  Hoping she also loves the pool.

- Sleeping?  As Nate would say . . . she’s “medium.”  Not great, not terrible.  We’ve managed to get her to take naps in her bed {when we’re actually home long enough!} but the only way she will is if she eats first.  Terrible habit, I know.

- She is still swaddled to sleep.  Can’t wait for the day when she’s not.

- She is a trooper getting toted around to all the places we have to be.  As long as she isn’t left alone, she’s happy.

- She loves her binky.

- Sits up like a champ.  Sometimes falls over but is doing great.  Which means she loves highchairs, shopping carts and the swings!

- When she is laying on her back, she likes to pick both legs up as far as she can and SLAM them to the ground.  She does this over and over and over.  There must be a 6-pack buried under her Marz belly.

- Loves things by her face when she’s tired.

- She has been my best nurser . . . I’ve rarely pumped this go around.  But I can tell my milk is starting to disappear.  We’ll see how much longer it lasts!  She will take a bottle a lot of the time after she nurses!

- When I’m holding her, she puts her hands up by my neck and nestles her head in to me like she’s giving me a big hug.

Sure do love this girl.

Janie @ 5 months

J tongue out (1 of 1)

Time is flying by with this little lady.  She is adored by 3 Griffeth boys and her mama.  She’s still super happy & we’re so glad she’s ours!  It has been really fun seeing her two big brothers interact with her.  They still think she’s quite wonderful and are little Janie protectors.  We are really enjoying having a little girl around.

One night Wes was gone and I was feeling crazy and took all 3 kids to the grocery store, after bedtime, for quite a few groceries.  Nate took care of Janie in the stroller while Ryan and I grabbed all the stuff!

Janie: 2, 3, 4 months

Oh, Janie.  You’re definitely the 3rd child!  We’ve managed to take lots of photos of you {thanks to our i.phones} but I haven’t been great about keeping a written record of your monthly life.  So here we go with what I can come up with.

She is generally still such a happy little lady.  And during her second month of life she was also an awesome night time sleeper!  This was a new concept to me.  She was sleeping from about 10pm to 7am for weeks!  And then she got sick.  A sick 2 month old is not fun for anyone involved.  The poor little thing was so congested and it sounded like it was in her lungs which resulted in doctor visits, visits to our house by our good friend Max at 11pm, and a visit to the ER {a first for me}.  She survived and managed to get better.

2 months sad (1 of 1)

Janie just has to “go with it.”  I thrive on a schedule with babies and toddlers and we’ve had a hard time figuring this out this time.  It seems like there’s always a brother to take/pick up from something and she is learning to adapt from the get-go.  Through her 3rd month she has been an AWESOME car-seat baby!  She hardly ever cries and loves to take naps in that seat.  There was a day when I swear she was in her seat for 8+ hours going all over town with me only getting out to eat.  And she never complained.  She’s a good one.

After Janie was better for a few weeks . . . she got sick again!  This time she was not only congested but she had legitimate wheezing in her chest, too.  Breathing treatments were back.  Dr. Carrie recommended that I not take her to the cabin since she was having difficulty breathing normally in Vegas she didn’t want us up in those elevations.  So we had our first girls weekend {details to come}.

She absolutely adores her brothers.  She watches them constantly and thinks they are pretty funny.  She is one lucky lady to have two big brothers who also adore her.  They constantly want to hold her & make sure she’s happy.  Even 4 months in to it she is the first person they want to see when they wake up and always want to say good night to her.  I love watching this.  I hope they always think she’s this great.

A few other things about our Janie girl:

- She discovered spitting & she thinks it’s pretty great.  Sometimes in the middle of the night, during a feeding, she just starts spitting.  It makes me smile through the exhaustion.

- She’s a funny eater.  She sometimes wants nothing at all to do with it, arching her back and absolutely refusing to eat.  Sometimes I can get her to eat on one side before she does this.  Sometimes she eats like a champ.  She definitely does better without any distractions.

- She loves her binky, holding toys, her bath & the TV.

- She slept in her little papasan chair at night until she was 3 months old.  The transition to her crib went better than I anticipated.

- She splashes water absolutely everywhere in the bath.

- She’s still swaddled.

- She’s a sensitive little lady.  There’s been a few times when a ball or flying object has made contact with her and after a delayed reaction, she just cries and cries.

- We’re loving having a girl!
