Janie: 2, 3, 4 months

Oh, Janie.  You’re definitely the 3rd child!  We’ve managed to take lots of photos of you {thanks to our i.phones} but I haven’t been great about keeping a written record of your monthly life.  So here we go with what I can come up with.

She is generally still such a happy little lady.  And during her second month of life she was also an awesome night time sleeper!  This was a new concept to me.  She was sleeping from about 10pm to 7am for weeks!  And then she got sick.  A sick 2 month old is not fun for anyone involved.  The poor little thing was so congested and it sounded like it was in her lungs which resulted in doctor visits, visits to our house by our good friend Max at 11pm, and a visit to the ER {a first for me}.  She survived and managed to get better.

2 months sad (1 of 1)

Janie just has to “go with it.”  I thrive on a schedule with babies and toddlers and we’ve had a hard time figuring this out this time.  It seems like there’s always a brother to take/pick up from something and she is learning to adapt from the get-go.  Through her 3rd month she has been an AWESOME car-seat baby!  She hardly ever cries and loves to take naps in that seat.  There was a day when I swear she was in her seat for 8+ hours going all over town with me only getting out to eat.  And she never complained.  She’s a good one.

After Janie was better for a few weeks . . . she got sick again!  This time she was not only congested but she had legitimate wheezing in her chest, too.  Breathing treatments were back.  Dr. Carrie recommended that I not take her to the cabin since she was having difficulty breathing normally in Vegas she didn’t want us up in those elevations.  So we had our first girls weekend {details to come}.

She absolutely adores her brothers.  She watches them constantly and thinks they are pretty funny.  She is one lucky lady to have two big brothers who also adore her.  They constantly want to hold her & make sure she’s happy.  Even 4 months in to it she is the first person they want to see when they wake up and always want to say good night to her.  I love watching this.  I hope they always think she’s this great.

A few other things about our Janie girl:

- She discovered spitting & she thinks it’s pretty great.  Sometimes in the middle of the night, during a feeding, she just starts spitting.  It makes me smile through the exhaustion.

- She’s a funny eater.  She sometimes wants nothing at all to do with it, arching her back and absolutely refusing to eat.  Sometimes I can get her to eat on one side before she does this.  Sometimes she eats like a champ.  She definitely does better without any distractions.

- She loves her binky, holding toys, her bath & the TV.

- She slept in her little papasan chair at night until she was 3 months old.  The transition to her crib went better than I anticipated.

- She splashes water absolutely everywhere in the bath.

- She’s still swaddled.

- She’s a sensitive little lady.  There’s been a few times when a ball or flying object has made contact with her and after a delayed reaction, she just cries and cries.

- We’re loving having a girl!

Ryan turns FOUR.

DSC_0178_edited-1

Oh, Ryan.  What a boy.  He will absolutely be the one who gives me my first grey hair or ulcer.  We’re glad that both he and I survived to see his 4th birthday!  While he may be the most extreme of my 3 kids so far, he’s extreme in both the good and the {not so} good.

A little bit about Ryan at FOUR:

- He is quirky.

- He loves to make faces.  He’s pretty good at it.

- He loves his little sis.

- He also loves {and sometimes hates} his big brother.

- His favorite color is blue.

- He is brave.

- He can be such a good helper.  He comes up with jobs to do all of the time and is great.  He’ll mop, clean walls, wipe down baseboards, do the dishes.  As long as it’s his idea, he’s great at it.

- He’s athletic. He loves just about any sport he’s tried.

- He makes us laugh.

- He’s a rather picky eater but will happily eat any treat.

- He rides a bike without training wheels.

- He can swim.  And ski.

- He loves school.  From what I can tell he is an extremist there, too.  Either the best kid in the class or the rowdiest.

- He can be so mean!  Ever since he started moving, he’s had a mean streak.  All of our friends know to just sometimes stay clear of Ryan.  Still.  OR, he’s your best friend & will do anything for you.

- He’s tall.

Can’t imagine life without this guy.  He has been my little buddy this year.  It’s been nice to have some Ryan time with Nate in school all day.  He is definitely ready to go to school a little more and play some sports.  He wants to be big like his brother!  Love this kid.

{my friend Monica took these pictures in February.  She pretty much captured his personality.}
